Vistar Media appoints Josh Turney to drive OOH growth in NZ

Tue, 18th Nov 2025

Vistar Media has appointed Josh Turney as Account Director, Demand, in a move designed to bolster its sales team in New Zealand as interest in programmatic out-of-home (OOH) advertising grows across the region.

Local expertise

Turney brings more than 14 years of experience in the advertising sector, having previously worked at oOh! Media New Zealand as Programmematic Channel Lead. His career has spanned both agency and media-owner sides of the industry. In his role with Vistar Media, Turney will focus on helping agencies and brands access the capabilities of programmatic OOH advertising, using Vistar Media's technology and global expertise in campaign management.

Regional growth

The expansion of the New Zealand sales team comes as the company reports sustained growth across Australia and New Zealand. Vistar Media aims to address what it sees as increasing demand for programmatic solutions within the OOH market, with continued investments into local infrastructure and talent. The company's platform provides buyers and sellers with access to digital inventory across thousands of screens, both in New Zealand and internationally.

Industry outlook

Turney highlighted the potential for growth in the programmatic OOH market.

"It's an exciting time to be joining Vistar Media, with programmatic OOH continuing to gain incredible traction. Having worked closely with Sandra and the team as a supply partner, it's clear how much opportunity lies ahead and how well positioned Vistar is to lead that growth. Bringing supply-side experience into the mix will help strengthen partnerships even further, and I'm excited to work alongside Sandra Scott and Jack Manning to drive the next wave of growth for Vistar and the wider OOH ecosystem," said Turney, Account Director, Demand, Vistar Media.

Platform reach

Vistar Media connects buyers and sellers of OOH media through its programmatic platform. The company's reach covers markets across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, including regional coverage in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and several other markets in Southeast and East Asia.

Future strategy

Turney is expected to focus on growing client relationships and advancing programmatic adoption, bringing additional expertise to the local team as agencies and brands increasingly turn to data-driven advertising channels.

Vistar Media stated that Turney's appointment aligns with its commitment to developing the local OOH market in New Zealand as part of a broader regional strategy. The firm has underlined its intention to expand its digital OOH operations and improve support organisations accessing this advertising channel.

"It's fantastic to welcome Josh to the Vistar team as we continue to invest and scale in New Zealand. His strong OOH background brings an extra layer of depth and perspective to our business, which will be invaluable as we continue to lead the growth of programmatic OOH. The category is expanding fast, but there's still a huge opportunity to better support our partners and maximise the value they get from the channel," said Sandra Scott, Director of Sales and Partnerships, New Zealand, Vistar Media.
