Almer & TeamViewer team up for subscription-based AR solution
Almer, the pioneering provider of Augmented Reality (AR) headsets, has entered into a strategic partnership with TeamViewer, the renowned provider of digital workplace solutions. This partnership introduces a subscription-based hardware and software bundle, including joint marketing activities.
This newly engineered bundle offers the Almer Arc AR headset integrated with TeamViewer's top-tier, device-agnostic, augmented reality (AR) remote assistance solution, xAssist. One of the significant features of this strategic collaboration is the flexible subscription plan which circumvents the issue of steep initial hardware costs. The subscription includes value-added services like easy replacements and free hardware upgrades.
With this innovative solution, businesses, irrespective of their size, can seamlessly integrate AR into their frontline staff's daily tasks, thereby accelerating the digitalisation of deskless workforces. The employees can perform their jobs in a 100% hands-free way and have access to all necessary information. A vital benefit is that remote expert assistance is easily within reach, with information displayed right in their visual field, thanks to TeamViewer's industry-tested Frontline solution on the Almer Arc. This offering is customised to meet various use-cases such as aftersales support, remote assistance, and remote training.
Mei Dent, TeamViewer's Chief Product & Technology Officer, pointed out that "Approximately 80% of the global workforce does not work at a desk but at a company's frontline, and most of them currently benefit very little from digital transformation". She noted the "immense potential for efficiency and productivity" by enhancing frontline work with digital tools connected to the company's backend system. Mei added that "Our joint offering with Almer allows companies to explore how Augmented Reality opens new opportunities for business and operations and massively increases the speed of their digitalisation efforts."
Sebastian Beetschen, Almer's CEO, stated, "The partnership with TeamViewer marks an important step for Almer as a company." He highlighted that both involved parties committed to intensive efforts to ensure effortless operation of the powerful combination, right out of the box. He added, "Without much investment, companies can now benefit from a European-made, industry-proven bundle to kickstart their AR journey right away to start digitalising business-critical processes."
Prior to its general release, Swisscom and Oerlikon extensively tested the solution in productive industrial working environments as part of a pilot programme, testifiying to the product's viability. This collaboration aims to facilitate businesses in adapting to the increasing demand for digital procedures and tools that can transform business-critical processes rapidly, speedily and efficiently.
