Behind Ultra Violette’s global glow up – a NORA webinar

Today

It's one thing to sell internationally. It's another to scale sustainably across markets. For many fast-growing retailers, global ambitions are high. But the operational reality doesn't always keep pace. That's when cracks start to show.

Inventory gets harder to track. Fulfilment delays creep in. Finance teams scramble to close the books across multiple entities. And the bigger the brand gets, the more fragmented the systems become – until decision-making slows, visibility drops and growth stalls.

In most cases, the strategy isn't the issue. It's the tech stack that's simply not built to handle the complexity of multi-region, multi-channel operations.

For Australian and New Zealand brands with global aspirations, the difference between scaling and struggling often comes down to one question – are your systems ready to grow with you?

One of the biggest culprits is a lack of integration. As systems are added over time – to accommodate new channels, partners and markets – retailers often end up with platforms that don't speak the same language. Finance, fulfilment, inventory, eCommerce – they're all critical, but when disconnected, they create delays, errors and blind spots. Integration is what allows your systems to scale together.

Australian sunscreen brand Ultra Violette goes global

Take Ultra Violette – a brand that set out in 2019 to reframe sunscreen from a grudge step into something people genuinely want to wear. What started as a cult favourite in Australian skincare has since become a globally recognised brand, with launches in the UK, Europe, Southeast Asia, Canada, the Middle East – and, most recently, the US.

But before all that growth, Ultra Violette faced familiar challenges - their tech stack was built for simpler times. It had grown into a patchwork of disconnected tools: multiple Xero instances across subsidiaries, siloed finance and inventory systems, and limited integrations with 3PLs and front-end platforms. Reporting relied on workarounds, data was inconsistent and visibility across regions was near impossible.

As growth picked up, so did the strain. Financial consolidation was manual, inventory coordination clunky and compliance increasingly complex. Plus, their systems simply couldn't support demand-based replenishment or real-time decisions.

The issue wasn't Ultra Violette's the ambition – it was the architecture behind it.
