Google Cloud appoints Paul Migliorini as ANZ Vice President

Google Cloud has announced the appointment of Paul Migliorini as the new Vice President for Australia and New Zealand.

Paul Migliorini will be based in Sydney and will lead the regional go-to-market strategy while collaborating with customers and partners to utilise artificial intelligence through Google Cloud's technology.

Karan Bajwa, Vice President of Google Cloud in Asia Pacific, stated, "I am delighted to welcome Paul to Google Cloud. With his deep knowledge of the local market, and proven track record in successfully growing cloud businesses, I am confident Paul will help us advance our mission and unlock our next phase of growth in Australia and New Zealand."

Migliorini brings extensive experience to his new role, having served as CEO of Versent, which was recently acquired by Telstra. His prior positions include Managing Director of Amazon Web Services in Australia and leadership roles at BT, IWG, and Ernst & Young.

Paul Migliorini expressed enthusiasm for his new position, commenting, "AI isn't just changing the technology sector, it's changing the world, and I'm excited to join Google Cloud at such a pivotal time. Google Cloud is working with major entities across various sectors in Australia, including leading financial services like ANZ Bank and Macquarie Bank, retail enterprises such as Woolworths, and public sector organisations like the Department of Health & Aged Care. Companies like Canva and Culture Amp are amongst those partnering with Google Cloud to drive digital transformation.

The company is making significant contributions to Australia's digital infrastructure and renewable energy initiatives, such as investments in subsea cable projects to enhance digital connectivity in the Pacific region and collaborations on renewable energy projects with companies like AirTrunk and OX2.

In terms of financial performance, Google Cloud reported revenues of USD $10.3 billion for the second quarter of 2024, reflecting a 29% increase compared to the previous year and sustained profitability since the first quarter of 2023.

The company has rolled out over a thousand product advancements over the past year, aiming to foster innovation and scalability with AI. This includes developments like the AI hypercomputer, updates to Vertex AI, and the introduction of Gemini for Workspace, all designed to support organisations' growth with cutting-edge technology.
