How Spark's wireless broadband simplified a small Kiwi business's internet

Tue, 16th Jun 2020
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Peter Thrower and his company, Beyond Electrical, have used a lot of different internet plans.

In the past, his company has shared the WiFi with another company when they cohabited the same building, and has since moved the company headquarters around sporadically, never quite settling and suffering terrible internet connections as a result.

Then they finally they got their own office space, and after a long moving-in and setting-up process, Peter realised he hadn't organised the office's internet. But he didn't want just any broadband plan.

The nature of the company means sometimes the office is full, while other times Peter and his business partner are on the road. Peter needed a plan that could be flexible around his data needs, which fluctuate from day-to-day.

So he set out to hunt down the best option, a task he assumed would take hours. To make it easy, he began by calling up the same provider the company has used for its staff's mobile plans since the beginning.

"We've always been with Spark – so we rang them up and asked, 'what can you do for us?' And they told us about their new Business Flexible Wireless Broadband plans and helped get us set up, which was awesome," says Peter.

Beyond Electrical is just one of many small businesses around New Zealand using Spark's Business Flexible Broadband, which has proved popular due to its lack of data caps and easy installation, requiring no visits from contractors and a simple 'plug-in and go' set-up.

This eliminates the tedious and often-frustrating wait for technicians to initialise routers, and removes any installation fees all while ensuring fast, 4G-enabled broadband for a flexible price range.

"And then there's the added bonus of knowing that, if for some reason we did need to use a lot of data, then we could use a little extra and we wouldn't have to worry about a nasty bill at the end of the month," says Peter.

He says one of the best features of the plan is the ability to save money when the company uses less, and pay up to a fixed amount if they use more.

And after switching to Business Flexible Broadband, Peter says every aspect of his business's relationship with the internet is better.

"Now, we're spending way less on internet a month, while getting way more out of it."

Spark's customer director Grant McBeath says the plan was designed to remove the stress usually endured by small Kiwi businesses when they attempt to get their workspace connected.

"We know that owning and running a business comes with many day-to-day stressors," says McBeath.

"We're really pleased to offer eligible business customers the flexibility of having just one plan for their broadband needs, which flexes depending on their individual data requirements each month.

"And with the bonus of personal support from local business hubs, for our business customers, Business Flexible Broadband is one less stress in their busy lives.
