Kiwi developer's printing app scores Google Pay rights in Australia
Kiwi app developer MEA has swept its way into Australia through its Printicular app, which is now offering customers Android Pay to print photos.
The deal with Android Pay has been one of a 'shortlist' of apps selected to offer the payment method, and Printicular now sits alongside the big players such as AirBnB and Kogan.
The company offers customers the ability to order prints from their mobile devices and get them delivered to their doorstep
Google has also commended the introduction of Android Pay into Australia, which occurred only recently.
"We're excited to bring the simplicity and security of mobile payments to Android users in Australia. Using Android Pay is more secure — and much faster — than rummaging through your wallet for a plastic card. Aussie shoppers can now use Android Pay at almost 800,000 contactless payment terminals across Australia," says Pali Bhat, senior director of product management at Google.
"The addition of Android Pay to the app will mean Printicular customers have an added level of convenience and security to their photo purchases. There was a chasm for about a decade where people weren't able to easily print their photos Cables, wires, logins made the process cumbersome and overwhelming. Printicular was built to make photo printing easier than it has ever been before," says Bruce Seymour, Printicular cofounder.
MEA has developed apps for local New Zealand companies such as The Warehouse, Samsung, the University of Otago and Rip Curl. The company has offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and the United States.
