Kiwi startup to solve USB charging woes
Kiwi start up ryo fully funded its Kickstarter campaign for its reversible USB adapter in less than 24 hours. It has raised 106% of their funding goal less than a day into their campaign.
"USBs have been connecting all of our devices for almost two decades. We have all been through the frustrations of having to figure out which way is the right way to plug in our USB cables," the company says in a statement.
"These connections have become a part of our everyday lives, so why is charging our phone or plugging in our mouse and keyboard still such a hassle?
"We use our cables and devices so often that we have almost accepted this frustration as the norm.
Julian Chow, designer of the ryo adapter, says "We have smartphones that can send messages to the other side of the world in an instant and the ability to guide you to any destination with amazing accuracy. But it's a coin toss every time you try to charge said smartphone. I thought it was a little silly to say the least.
The ryo adapter is small and durable. Simply attach it to any USB cable once and the cable will plug in correctly the first time, every time.
With utility and practicality being at the core of the design process, the adapters are designed with the end user in mind along every step of the way;
• Unibody core that minimizes it's profile and increases it's durability
• Built-in cable tie feature to curb cable tangling during storage
• Constructed from high grade soft plastic to prevent accidental dislodging
The ryo Kickstarter campaign launched on March 9, 2015 at 9am EST and will run for 35 days.
