Kiwi tech company aims for the big time with investors in China

FYI, this story is more than a year old

There is almost no doubt that you're familiar with the Pokemon GO augmented reality (AR) revolution that took over the world. Now, Kiwi company and AR specialist GeoARgames will be presenting their business and offerings to investors at a two city summit in China.

This is all part of an initiative from FunderTech that sends startup businesses to China in order to discover investment, manufacturing and distribution opportunities. FunderTech maintains a unique relationship with an Angel Investor Club based out of four cities in China, which allows startups to pitch their ideas in front of between 300-500 Angel Investors, Venture Capital funds and government officials.

GeoARgames is a world leader in utilising both satellite and geo-spacial technology to accurately pinpoint outdoor augmented reality (AR) to within 15mm. This is a unique technology that is able to remotely and virtually home in with this degree of accuracy.

To date GeoARgames has focused on providing safe outdoor children's games in local parks using dinosaurs and fish animation, adopted by the cities of Auckland and Wellington. However, the technology can also be applied to many other sectors like virtual real estate, outdoor children education, tourism, outdoor brand activation, public art, events and outdoor gaming.

GeoARgames CEO, Melanie Langlotz says they are excited for the opportunity.

"It is the first time we are pitching overseas and it seemed like a great opportunity to connect and build relationships with businesses who might be interested in collaboration, investing or acquisition for those who see the potential of our technology in other industries," Langlotz says. "While we showcase our gaming technology through mobile outdoor games, it can also be used for education, which is a booming market in China. What better way to learn than by having fun outdoors while exercising!

Melanie is also a big fan of Chinese food, so it's certainly a win-win scenario. We will be staying in contact with Melanie throughout the event, so stay on board to see how GeoARgames' pitch progresses.
