FYI, this story is more than a year old

MYOB is set to showcase improvements to its API developer program at its annual Partner Connect conference, taking place this August 14-15 in Auckland.

MYOB's API developer program is dedicated to finding ways to aid SMEs. It was set up in 2013 and has grown to nearly 3,000 partners in just two years.

The annual conference, traditionally held for MYOB approved partners only, now includes an extra day that is free for anyone wanting to learn more about MYOB's suite of online accounting products.

A selection of add-on applications designed to complement the MYOB product offering will be exhibited to conference participants at tradeshow stands.

James Scollay, MYOB general manager for SME Solutions, says, "Our add-on community enables business owners to create an end to end solution that fully automates their business, something which previously only large enterprises could afford.

"The API developer program also ensures that MYOB is helping to foster technology innovation for the SME sector. It's vital that small business get access to the latest advances in technology, in key areas like mobile and automated business intelligence.

"We are always on the look-out for add-ons that, through clever use of data and technology, focus on the evolving needs of small business.

He says, "We see the future for accountants as being the trusted business advisor to their small business clients. Apps from our developer program, integrated with MYOB AccountRight or MYOB Essentials, help them on that professional journey.

Scollay says the API developer program is also another way for MYOB to help support local technology entrepreneurs.

"For our almost 3,000-strong partner community, we are creating the opportunity for dynamic technology businesses to reach a wide audience, work closely with other like-minded developers, and identify exciting opportunities in our base of 1.2million SME customers," he says.

The API is available for use with any programming language and any platform, such as Mac and Windows, including devices running iOS, Android and Windows Mobile operating systems.

The developer program offers three levels of membership to suit different needs and is open and free to anyone wanting to create and integrate solutions that make business life easier for MYOB clients.
