The New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards announced its winners last Friday night.
Rakon won the Company of the Decade award, as well as Company of the Year. Rakon manufactures frequency control solutions and has facilitis in New Zealand, Europe, India and soon China. The judges awarded Rakon for being a "gutsy and innovative" company with international appeal.
Other interesting wins came in for VoucherMob, taking away the Best Hi-Tech Start-up of the year and YikeBike in the Hi-Tech Hardware Product category. VoucherMob sends discount vouchers directly to your smartphone via a VoucherMob app for iPhone and Android, while Christchurch-based YikeBike develops light-weight folding electric mini-farthings.
This year's awards were judged by a panel of 48 local judges and 11 international judges, including Dell founder Michael Dell.
