San Diego State University turns to Daktronics for marquee display
San Diego State University has deployed a double-sided LED video marquee near a freeway to promote campus events and sponsored messages.
The new marquee display was manufactured by Daktronics, who worked with San Diego State Universiy and San Diego Electric Sign on the project to bring the designs to live.
Daktronic's outdoor LED marquee displays each measure approximately 19 feet high by 38 feet wide and feature a 20 millimeter line spacing. Combined, they provide more than 1,400 square feet of video-capable display area for promoting campus events and sponsored messages.
Chris Xanthos, San Diego State University associate vice president of business operations and CIO, says Daktronics understood the university's needs and issues along with the complexities of having a sign adjacent to a major freeway, and provided a solution that addressed all of those aspects.
"The construction and installation went smoothly and the design of the new sign was executed flawlessly by both Daktronics and San Diego Electric Sign," Xanthos says.
Robin Hall, Daktronics regional manager says the display location provides the university with great exposure, and is a valuable asset to the university.
"The upgraded display and monument fit with the university culture and architectural style, and will allow the university great flexibility to promote the campus," Hall says.
