Singapore's Qashier launches 'groundbreaking' QR payment terminal

Thu, 11th Jan 2024

Qashier, a Singapore-based fintech startup, has launched its QashierPay Soundbox, a pioneering QR payment terminal designed to advance the safety and reliability of digital transactions, in an effort to catalyse the digitisation of payments.

The new device comes equipped with novel live auditory alert capabilities, safeguarding merchants with high transactions rates by offering immediate payment receipt notifications.

The QashierPay Soundbox is geared up to be the simplest method for businesses to accept QR payments with a cost-efficient device, reshaping processes for high-flow transaction debutants, such as hawkers and mini-marts, the company states.

According to the company, the plug-and-play terminal promises more than just an alternative payment option for businesses, it brings along hosts of customer-friendly features.

The Soundbox allows nonprofits to avoid a drastic overhaul of their existing payment setups - a feature that could prompt smooth adoption. In addition, it accepts most e-wallet QR payments, including popular apps such as Google Pay, GrabPay, DBS Paylah, and Singtel Dash. The device also allows a quicker checkout process by offering a single Paynow QR code for customers.

This considered, the Soundbox enables a more streamlined sales reporting process, with all transaction records synced through to a personal merchant portal via QashierHQ in real-time.

The next step in transaction processing, it promises next-day payouts, strengthens cash flow for businesses and empowers non-traditional trading setups with offsite usage flexibility due to its WiFi and SIM-enabled design, according to the company. The device is also designed to be compact, fitting onto any checkout counter without a glitch.

"As Singapore gradually moves towards a cashless society, Qashier is committed to championing and supporting SMEs on this journey. The newly launched QashierPay Soundbox will help lower barriers to entry for local merchants and empower them to adopt cashless transactions."

"We are doubling down our efforts in shaping a safe and secure payment ecosystem to provide peace of mind for our merchants and their users," said Christopher Choo, Co-founder and CEO of Qashier.

The first 1,000 enterprises to register between 10th January and 29th February 2024 are eligible to claim a complimentary QashierPay Soundbox. They are also eligible for a waiver of transaction fees until the conclusion of March the same year. Moreover, each QashierPay Soundbox comes ready with a gratis SIM card and data usage for the device. As an exclusive launch offer, merchants commanding S$10,000 worth of transactions can earn an additional S$100 cashback.

These incentives are part of Qashier's SME Support Package, an ongoing plan to drive the adoption of digital payment solutions amongst small and medium-sized enterprises. Since launching its payment solution, QashierPay, in 2022, Qashier's solutions are employed by over 2,000 merchant stores nationwide, supporting in excess of 200,000 daily transactions.

While the QashierPay Soundbox is currently exclusive to Singapore, plans are underway for it to be gradually introduced across different markets including Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.
