Wrapping up 2016 with the best of bizEDGE

Fri, 16th Dec 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

It's that time of the year again, and the team at TechDay has taken a look back at some of our favourite stories from the last year.

First of all, 2016 has been a big year in the realm of digital distruption. New start-ups and new tech are appearing all of the time, causing a wave of digital transformation and disruption. Adobe's CEO, Shantanu Narayen, addressed this exact topic a few months ago.

In September, Xero celebrated its 10 year anniversary. Today, there are more than 700,000 users in more than 180 countries across the globe. And, to this day, the company's vision has remained unchanged: to help small businesses thrive.

This year, New Zealanders were also lucky enough to have Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, grace us with his presence. He addressed an audience of developers and partners at an event in Auckland, shedding light on the future vision of the company and its developers.

Kiwis were introduced to their first fibre only service - Stuff Fibre.

Climate change, resilience and sustainability; we explored how these three topics will make up half of all smart city objectives by 2020.

What the U.S election means for the tech sector What the U.S election means for the tech sector - We revisited the U.S. election, and looked into how the new president could change the industry.

Salesforce: This company is the undisputed leader in customer relationship management (CRM) - and this year, it stepped into the rich world of artificial intelligence

With the apparent housing crisis in full swing, Trade Me unveiled that Kiwis have a 'voracious' appetite for controversial online property info.

And, of course, UFB. This broadband sensation has been rolling out around New Zealand for a while now, but over the past year we took an in depth look inside the 'Kiwi UFB experience'.

So, that's a wrap on 2016, what a year! The team at TechDay are taking a short break, but we'll be back in full swing in the new year.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
