Canterbury Tech unveils new member benefits & discounts
Canterbury Tech has announced a range of updated member benefits designed to enhance networking opportunities and provide cost-saving perks.
In a recent update, Canterbury Tech revealed that members will now receive priority access to its "Tech Tuesdays" events, allowing members to network and engage with speakers before the events open to non-members. This initiative aims to foster community interactions and provide members with more opportunities to connect.
The organisation has also secured several discounts for its members, partnering with selected businesses. Among these is a discount on ContentedAI subscriptions, with a saving of USD $20 on individual subscriptions and USD $100 off corporate subscriptions for the first six months. Additionally, members will receive a complimentary 1.5-hour consultancy session valued at USD $1,500 to maximise the value of their subscription.
Further enhancing its offers, Canterbury Tech has partnered with GG Bistro to provide a 2-for-1 coffee deal for members, available at the Bistro's new CBD location. These benefits reflect Canterbury Tech's ongoing efforts to deliver value to its members through strategic collaborations.
Members can also look forward to a series of professional development opportunities tailored specifically for tech businesses. These will be available at reduced rates for Canterbury Tech members and will focus on enhancing skills in project management, communication, and interpersonal relations.
Canterbury Tech is considering reintroducing dual streams for its Tech Tuesday meetings, allowing attendees to choose between a technical talk and a more general business-oriented presentation after the initial networking session. Liz, the CEO, expressed interest in community feedback regarding this potential format change.
Additionally, the organisation is making changes to better support its student members. While introducing a low-level membership fee for full-time students, Canterbury Tech plans to offer a series of sessions designed to help students connect with recent industry entrants, explore tech careers, gain insights into career options, and access internship opportunities.
Looking ahead, Canterbury Tech will host various upcoming industry events, including its "Human Skills for Tech" workshop and Techfest 2025, both featuring expert speakers and networking sessions. The workshops aim to equip tech professionals with communication skills essential for today's workplaces.
These developments come alongside the announcement of Sacha joining the board, taking on responsibilities previously held by Liz, following her transition to Chief Executive Officer.
The organisation also shared significant achievements from the Recycle A Device initiative over the past year, which saw 2,920 laptops refurbished and donated, 658 young people trained in tech repair skills, and 5.8 tonnes of e-waste diverted from landfills.
Canterbury Tech's announcements underscore its commitment to supporting the tech community through education, partnerships, and resource allocation, reflecting a broader strategy to strengthen connections within the local tech industry.
