Datalex partners with Gr4vy to bring new payment tech to airlines

Yesterday

Datalex and Gr4vy have agreed to an exclusive partnership aimed at introducing new payment orchestration technology to the airline industry.

The collaboration integrates Gr4vy's cloud-native payment orchestration platform with Datalex's DLX Pay, a platform designed specifically for airlines and available as part of Datalex's Stellex Offer & Order Management suite or as a standalone solution. The integration is intended to give airlines the ability to access multiple payment providers, improve conversion rates, and streamline the passenger checkout experience.

Addressing legacy system constraints

Traditional payment systems in the airline sector have often been cited as a constraint due to their limitations and complexity when working with multiple payment service providers. The move towards orchestration seeks to modernise this aspect of the booking process by offering airlines greater flexibility while also attempting to remove the need for costly upgrades to legacy infrastructure.

The partnership aims to assist airlines in shifting to more flexible, modular systems that support Offer & Order-based retailing, which is increasingly seen as the direction of travel for the industry. By leveraging Gr4vy's orchestration technology, airlines will be able to connect to new payment providers more rapidly and respond to evolving passenger payment preferences.

Statements from leadership

John Lunn, Founder and CEO of Gr4vy, said: "We're seeing more enterprise platforms make orchestration a central part of their value proposition. With DLX Pay, Datalex can offer modern, localized payment experiences to its airline customers without reinventing the wheel. That's exactly what Gr4vy for Platforms is built for."

Jonathan Rockett, CEO of Datalex, commented on the exclusive partnership and its anticipated impact.

"We are delighted to announce our exclusive partnership with Gr4vy to bring additional payment orchestration capability to our DLX Pay customers. This capability will enable improved payment conversion rates and a more flexible, streamlined payment experience for airline passengers. As part of the Stellex + product suite, DLX Pay can be adopted as an add-on to our Offer & Order Management platform, Stellex, or as a standalone solution for airlines not currently using Stellex. We are excited to bring this project to fruition later this year alongside our airline launch partner."

Industry relevance and product positioning

The companies describe the introduction of Gr4vy's orchestration platform into DLX Pay as a response to growing demand for payment solutions that can adapt fast to both regulatory requirements and customer preferences worldwide. The combined offering provides access to multiple payment methods, customisation of the payment stack, and improved management of regional compliance issues, according to the companies.

Datalex's DLX Pay supports both existing airline partners within the Stellex ecosystem and airlines seeking a new solution outside their current systems. The exclusive nature of the agreement means that Gr4vy's orchestration technology will be made available to Datalex partners as part of their ongoing product strategies.

Operational efficiencies and new revenue streams

The companies state that the partnership will not only support operational efficiencies by reducing the engineering burden associated with integrating new payment service providers but will also create opportunities for airlines to increase revenue through more effective payment conversion. Automation features and customisable payment workflows are intended to help airlines control cost and performance more closely.

The launch of this partnership is also seen as part of Gr4vy's wider objective to provide enterprise platforms across industries with payment orchestration technologies designed for complex, multi-merchant environments. The emphasis on white-label and turnkey solutions continues to reflect broader industry trends towards platform-driven payment management, with a view to supporting both scalability and compliance requirements.
