Digital signage moves inside taxis
Fri, 8th Apr 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Digital signage has come to the inside of taxis, with 500 Co-op taxis in Edmonton being installed with digital signage following a successful six month trial.

The offering includes Topaz 7-inch displays connected to the Topaz CMS Media Player installed in each taxi, ensuring updates can be pushed to the screens remotely, no matter where the vehicle is, with content controlled from anywhere in the world.

Topaz Digital says the digital signage is being installed to enhance the passengers' experience when travelling with Co-op. The screens display ‘engaging and informative content' for the journey and provide third party, customer related advertising in partnership with local media company Impact Ads - providing an additional revenue stream for Co-op.

Uday Kumar, Co-op Taxi General manager, says the new partnership with Topaz Digital and Impact Ads provides ‘a great service' to customers.

“It was important for us to partner with a solutions orientated company that could develop a custom solution that fits our specific needs whilst ensuring there were no recurring costs,” Kumar says.

Christopher Stammers, Topaz Digital chief executive, says the solution is a great example of how one size doesn't fit all, with the company creating a fully customised solution to see the specific needs and challenges of the customer.

The companies say with an average 20 minute dwell time - and the uniqueness of location - the signage offers a compelling advertising opportunities for businesses of all sizes in Edmonton.
