FYI, this story is more than a year old

Dropbox for Business has announced it will be enabling an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) tool for its customers soon.

Offered through upcoming partner applications, EMM will allow businesses to give their teams safe access to mobile devices for work, Dropbox says.

This means customers will have greater mobile security without sacrificing user experience, according to Dropbox.

This update is being made possible through the Dropbox for Business API, which helps companies integrate Dropbox for Business into their core IT processes.

The Dropbox for Business API was launched with 20 industry-leading partners in December 2014, and since the initial launch Dropbox has been updating the API with key enhancements for enterprise, including the recent addition of capabilities for managing groups and shared folders.

Dropbox is rolling out EMM with a number of key partners to allow us to support the mobile platforms that teams use most.

Partners including AirWatch have already committed to enterprise integrations, which will be available to customers in the coming months.

Additionally, Dropbox will partner with leading vendors like Centrify to build an EMM ecosystem that will support mobile platforms including Apple iOS and Google Android for Work.

"Dropbox is continuing to execute on its Dropbox for Business API strategy, enabling best-of-breed integrations and customer choice of solutions," says Terri McClure, Enterprise Strategy Group senior analyst.

"The addition of EMM integrations will enable Dropbox to extend its EFSS capabilities to a broader set of organisations and customer use cases that need secure enterprise mobile management," she says.

Today, more than 100,000 companies rely on Dropbox for Business to securely store and share their most important company information.
