Eat My Lunch smashes crowdfunding goal
Kiwi start up Eat My Lunch has announced it has smashed its goal of $120,000 in their crowdfunding campaign.
The organisation launched its campaign on Pledgeme, with the aim to alleviate child poverty in New Zealand.
Eat My Lunchoperates a 'buy one give one' model for lunches, which has allowed them to provide more than 60,000 lunches over the past 15 weeks to children in South Auckland.
PledgeMe CEO Anna Guenther says it was 'awesome' to see Eat My Lunch reach its ambitious goal with the help of their crowd.
"Eat My Lunch has built an awesome crowd around their work, it's fantastic to see the way they have activated their crowd so they they can keep on providing lunches to Kiwi kids who need them," Guenther says.
"Eat My Lunch has shown how crowdfunding allows social enterprises doing great work to really make a difference in the world and connect to their supporters.
Lisa King, co-founder of Eat My Lunch, says now the organisation has hit their goal, it will be looking at stretch goals for further funding.
"If we can get another $25-30k we will be able to fund a cooking school for under-privileged kids to educate them about cooking and nutrition," King explains.
