ECU Worldwide partners with Rackspace for AWS cloud migration

Today

Rackspace Technology has announced its partnership with Allcargo Group's ECU Worldwide to transition global logistics operations to Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.

The collaboration involved ECU Worldwide moving from traditional data centres to AWS to support operations spanning 180 countries. This cloud migration aimed to improve scalability, reinforce disaster recovery, and strengthen security systems across the company's extensive logistics network.

ECU Worldwide's revamped digital platform, ECU360, now offers customers real-time shipment tracking, instant booking, and a simplified cargo movement process. These changes form part of a broader digital-first strategy that seeks to streamline customer experiences and standardise compliance in the highly regulated logistics sector.

The transformation was structured around four strategic pillars. The first pillar prioritised elevating the customer experience by introducing modernised digital interfaces and streamlining processes from tracking shipments to managing documentation. This allowed clients to interact with a single, unified platform, making processes more efficient and transparent.

The second pillar focused on infrastructure modernisation. Transitioning from a network of global data centres to AWS infrastructure has provided ECU Worldwide with the flexibility to scale operations during periods of peak demand, while maintaining a robust approach to security and disaster recovery.

The third pillar highlighted workforce development through extensive training programmes and change management initiatives designed to facilitate the adoption of new technology across ECU Worldwide's international operations. These programmes ensured that employees were equipped to use the modernised systems efficiently and adapt to ongoing technological change.

The final pillar drew on the expertise of AWS and Rackspace Technology, integrating best practices for cloud migration and ensuring that technological and operational changes were implemented effectively at scale.

"We were pleased to be able to assist ECU Worldwide's digital transformation journey by focusing on making operations simpler and more efficient for its global customers," said D K Sinha, President of Public Cloud, Rackspace Technology. "Transitioning to AWS has reinforced system security, ensured stable operations, and enhanced disaster recovery solutions. Our collaboration with ECU Worldwide and AWS will connect the right solutions with industry best practices."

Kapil Mahajan, Global Chief Information and Technology Officer of Allcargo Group, commented: "Our cloud migration strategy at ECU Worldwide focused on four pillars: enhancing customer experiences, modernising infrastructure through AWS, enabling our workforce, and leveraging strategic partnerships. This transformation addressed our scalability needs across 180 countries while unifying our compliance approach. It's empowered us to deliver next-generation logistics services with real-time tracking and emerging technologies, positioning us at the forefront of logistics innovation."

Following the transformation, ECU Worldwide reports increased operational efficiency and improved responsiveness to market demands. The company has also enhanced business continuity through improved geographic redundancy and the adoption of standardised processes.

Through integration with AWS's cloud services, ECU Worldwide has also achieved consistent service delivery across different regions and strengthened compliance with a variety of regulatory frameworks worldwide. The transformation underpins ECU Worldwide's aim to future-proof its infrastructure and keep pace with evolving global logistics demands.
