FedEx spreads festive cheer with Purple Tote campaign in AMEA

Fri, 26th Jan 2024

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp was instrumental in spreading festive cheer over the recent holiday season. Through its FedEx Cares Purple Tote Campaign, the FedEx team in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) region gathered over 8,000 kilograms of essential supplies to support more than 30 local non-profit organisations (NGOs).

The annual campaign, which took place between October to December 2023, involved more than 2,200 FedEx team members. Working in groups of varying sizes, the volunteers, who hailed from 18 markets across the vast AMEA region — including Australia, China, Egypt, Singapore, Vietnam, and the United Arab Emirates — collected a range of critical goods. These included packaged food items, books, toys for schools, winter clothes, and hygiene kits. The donated items were packed into FedEx Cares purple tote bags and distributed to chosen charities.

An estimated 2,400 beneficiaries, comprising young children, elderly individuals, and underserved groups, directly benefited from the team members' generosity. More than just a simple donation, the act of gift-giving was seen as a representation of love from the FedEx workforce. The campaign also served as an opportunity for staff to engage with and contribute positively to their local communities.

In response to the campaign's success, Kawal Preet, president of the AMEA region at FedEx Express, lauded the team members' contributions. "Every action that improves our world, no matter how small, is something extraordinary," he said. "These individual donations under our FedEx Cares program has created new opportunities for our team members to multiply the positive impact FedEx makes in the local communities where we live and work. Committing to Do Good is one of our most important values, and community action like this is one of the things that makes working at FedEx so incredibly rewarding."

The FedEx Cares Purple Tote Campaign is only one of the FedEx initiatives that encourages its global team members to 'Drive forward. Give back.' As part of the FedEx Cares program, team members are prompted to participate in volunteering and acts of caring throughout the year. Back in April 2023, to mark FedEx's 50th anniversary, more than 1,000 FedEx volunteers and their families took part in '50 Days of Caring,' a program that focused on sustainability and environmental protection, education, welfare, and support for the underserved. Such initiatives demonstrate FedEx's ongoing commitment to supporting its local communities.
