Kiwi start-up celebrates one year birthday with global award
The one-year-old Kiwi SAAS company Results.com, fresh from hitting the $1 million recurring revenue mark in its first year, has been named a winner at the prestigious 2014 TiE50 Awards Programme, which recognises the 50 hottest tech start-ups globally.
Results.com was announced the 2014 Top Start-up at the organization’s annual entrepreneurial conference, TiEcon, in San Francisco on 16 May.
Active for the past six years, this year’s TiE50 was open to all technology companies worldwide, with 2,800 entrants from 27 countries submitted for judging.
“Results.com feels honoured to be named the top start-up by TiE50," says Ben Ridler, CEO, Results.com.
"We look forward to collaborating with and being among the world’s most innovative start-ups. With our software we are revolutionising the way people work and helping to engage workforces to achieve extraordinary results.
“In the past year, we’ve seen rapid growth; clients have observed a 139% boost in productivity by implementing our management platform. It’s not just our namesake, it’s real data, real-world results.”
Venktesh Shukla, the president of TiE Silicon Valley, adds; “In the six short years since inception, the TiE50 programme has become a global brand that attracts thousands of companies worldwide for this recognition.
"It is unique in terms of rigour of selection and the broad scope of companies that it reviews for this award, and is one of TiE Silicon Valley’s most successful programmes.
"It is also worth mentioning that this is the only awards recognition in technology to be held by a large global non-profit organisation.”
To determine the winner, a panel of experts screened the companies and created a list of the 2014 TiE50 top start-ups. Around 100 of the best-of-breed companies were selected to the elite TiE50 finalist pool.
A highly accomplished team comprising serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors, CEOs and well-rounded technology experts determine the finalists and winners. Companies are evaluated on three parameters: business model, IP value and leadership team.
At TiEcon 2014, 20 of the top start-ups from each of the five segments were chosen to pitch their ideas, and winners were announced on stage that evening.
At this year’s event, attendees and TiE50 participants also heard from three previous TiE50 winners that have made recent successful exits: FireEye, Pearl Therapeutics and Rubicon Project.
“This year the TiE50 Awards Programme screened more than 2,800 companies from 27 countries," adds Ram K Reddy, the programme chair.
"The finalist pool is represented by early through late stage companies. A star attraction of the conference is TiE50 Finalist presentations, where audiences are treated to great ideas and amazing technologies."
The TiE50 track record since its inception in May 2009 shows that 94% of the winners and finalists have been funded, attracting billions in investments. Many of these companies have been acquired, merged or gone public.
