FYI, this story is more than a year old

BP has teamed up with Kiwi community website Neighbourly, as a sign of BP's ‘ongoing commitment' to New Zealand's communities.

Neighbourly.co.nz is New Zealand's first free and private neighbourhood website, which broke the 100,000 membership milestone last month.

BP joins AMI and The Warehouse in Neighbourly's small family of corporate partnerships which helps the site with day-to-day running and ongoing development of the platform.

The website is active in over 1,600 neighbourhoods, and works to bring neighbours and communities closer together, allowing members to share advice, plan events, find employment, discuss community issues, buy, sell and give away items, find lost pets, exchange recommendations on local services, and get to know each other.

“Neighbourly is a great new innovation which will keep local communities engaged with each other and able to share local information,” says BP communications manager, Jonty Mills.

“BP is represented in most communities throughout New Zealand and we're thrilled to have this opportunity to team up with Neighbourly to help local communities connect.”

Neighbourly.co.nz co-founder Casey Eden says BP is a passionate supporter of community initiatives and is particularly well-known for their long standing partnership with Surf Lifesaving New Zealand.

“It's essential that Neighbourly partners are focused on connecting with and enhancing their local communities and BP ticks both of these boxes,” Eden says. “As well as sponsoring Surf Lifesaving New Zealand for over 47 years, they've worked alongside Young Enterprise Trust to empower young Kiwis in business leadership and innovation for over 22 years. These lengthy partnerships are testament to BP's commitment to New Zealand and New Zealanders.

Since launching in June 2014, Neighbourly has grown to a membership of over 115,000 across 1,700 suburbs with hundreds of new members joining throughout New Zealand every day.
