OutSystems sees 30% rise in AI use among developers
AI tools are witnessing a significant surge in adoption among developers, according to new data released by OutSystems. The report shows a 30% year-over-year growth in active users of AI for development and lifecycle management.
OutSystems' AI Mentor System, a collection of machine learning-powered expert assistants, is now employed by over 40% of its developers on a monthly basis. This system not only provides AI-powered suggestions but also automates repetitive tasks, eliminates tedious work, and validates applications before they enter production, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards. Over the past year, the AI Mentor System detected 10 million code issues, aiding developers in avoiding potential pitfalls and enhancing app quality.
Paulo Rosado, co-founder and CEO at OutSystems, commented on the trend, stating, "The overwhelming adoption of AI among our community and clients underscores the significant positive impact it has on enhancing agility, productivity, and the overall development process, reinforcing the value of leveraging data-centric approaches in modern application development." Rosado reaffirmed OutSystems' commitment to continually improving its AI-powered platform to help development teams move faster, respond quickly, and reduce risk.
An illustrative case of AI's impact comes from Capability for Change, a company that utilised OutSystems to develop a generative AI-powered learning management system. Melanie Franklin, founder and CEO of Capability for Change, shared, "In just 14 weeks, with a team of only two developers, we launched a game-changing solution that transformed the user experience and attracted five new high-profile clients within just one month of its launch."
OutSystems combines the innovation of generative AI with the efficiency of low-code development. Recently, the company introduced AI Agent Builder, a tool that enables organisations to integrate GenAI agents into their applications. This tool achieved 100 installations in its first month. Additionally, OutSystems launched a GenAI-powered customer support tool within its Support Portal, leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) to enhance customer experience, reduce operational costs, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights.
In a move to further empower developers, OutSystems is focusing its third annual Hackathon, "Build for the Future," on AI innovation. Partnering with Microsoft and AWS, the event aims to unlock the developers' collective creativity to tackle real-world challenges and drive social impact initiatives. Winners will be announced in October at ONE: OutSystems NextStep Experience Conference in Amsterdam.
These innovations and the increasing momentum solidify OutSystems' position at the intersection of low-code application development and generative AI capabilities.
