Teradata enhances collaboration with AWS for Gen AI use cases

Yesterday

Teradata has announced an enhanced collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enable the delivery of rapid-start Generative AI use cases through the integration of Teradata VantageCloud with Amazon Bedrock.

Customers using Teradata VantageCloud on AWS will be able to quickly implement Generative AI (Gen AI) use cases to foster business value and achieve returns on investment more rapidly.

Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed AWS service, promises easy adoption of current Gen AI innovations by providing access to a variety of high-performing foundational models from AI leaders such as AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, and Meta.

The integration allows enterprise customers to swiftly utilise the foundational models alongside their data in VantageCloud's open and connected framework. With Gen AI fostering innovations across various sectors, effective implementation of trusted and scalable analytics is key for realising its business value. A survey conducted for Teradata by NewtonX revealed that 84 percent of AI executives expect visible results from AI projects within one year of deployment, emphasising the need for efficient and swift deployment of Gen AI use cases.

Through this integration, Teradata customers will have access to a broad repository of over 60 Gen AI use cases across multiple sectors and operations, aimed at enhancing customer experiences, boosting productivity, and streamlining business processes.

VantageCloud's APIs will facilitate access to Amazon Bedrock's foundational models, which, when combined with VantageCloud's operational capabilities, are expected to support the implementation of Gen AI use cases at scale and reduced cost.

Dan Spurling, Senior Vice President, Product Management at Teradata, commented, "Our customers seek to expedite the return on their AI investments by efficiently and cost-effectively deploying business solutions, leveraging Generative AI, into production."

"On the heels of our recent BYO-LLM announcement, this integration with Amazon Bedrock continues our momentum in the Gen AI space and underscores Teradata's commitment to being the most powerful, open and connected analytics and data platform for AI - giving customers the flexibility and choice they desire, to implement their generative AI strategies."

Teradata's integration utilises the teradatagenai Python package, which facilitates easy-to-use API functions for text analytics.

This integration potential, seen through Gen AI use cases such as faster retail item discovery, customer contract information retrieval in insurance, and customer complaint analysis, aims to provide tangible business benefits.

The combined offering of Teradata VantageCloud and Amazon Bedrock is set to be available from Q2 2025. Teradata's presence on the AWS Marketplace aims to streamline procurement for joint customers, allowing them to manage AWS spending commitments efficiently.
