Toshiba expands SMB offerings with new laptops
Toshiba has expanded its SMB offering with several new laptops designed to meet the needs of small businesses and mid-sized organisations.
The vendor's SMB lineup now includes the 14-inch Tecra C40 and Tecra A40, the 13.3-inch Portégé A30, the 15.6-inch Tecra A50, and the refreshed 15.6-inch Tecra C50, with more choices in form factors, security and docking capabilities.
The C Series laptops and the step-up A Series laptops are powered by Intel 6th generation core processors, while the entry-level Tecra C50 is powered by an Intel 5th generation core processor.
All of the notebooks include Toshiba's Quality Replacement Guarantee.
"Small businesses and mid-sized organisations have many needs and varying preferences when it comes to their devices but often have fewer choices compared to their large enterprise counterparts," says Carl Pinto, Toshiba vice president of marketing and engineering Business Solutions Division.
"With our expanded line of Tecra and Portégé products, we are able to offer a wide range of options to enhance user productivity, while delivering devices with enterprise-class performance for a low total cost of ownership," he says.
Toshiba has highlighted key features of the new lineup:
Performance quality
The entry-level C series laptops feature essential ports, HD displays and Intel processors. The laptops also feature a built-in DVD Drive as well as user-replaceable batteries.
The higher-end A Series laptops are equipped with a docking port and utilise the High Speed Port Replicator that is common across Toshiba's Tecra and Portégé line.
The A Series notebooks also include a Fingerprint Reader, spill-resistant, full-size backlit keyboard and Accupoint pointing system. The Tecra C50 and A50 feature a full-size keyboard with a 10-key numeric pad.
Toshiba Quality Replacement Guarantee
As part of this guarantee, if the LCD panel, hard drive, memory or system board fails within the first year of ownership, Toshiba will replace the unit with a new laptop.
Battery life rating
Toshiba's SMB laptops boast long lasting batteries and all models include a user-replaceable battery.
Windows operating system flexibility
Each of these devices will ship with Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, and will include Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade licencing rights in the packaging.
Toshiba BIOS for asset management
This BIOS software monitors the PC's internal components to maintain stability, and offer system-level security and built-in countermeasures to prevent unauthorised access.
Collaboration and sharing
The laptops are equipped with a webcam, Bluetooth v4.0, the latest dual-band 802.11ac + abgn Wi-Fi, and are wireless display ready. They include ports such as USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, plus full-size HDMI and VGA ports, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD Card reader.
The line of dongle-free devices include a built in ODD and a user replaceable battery.
Corporate IT management
The Tecra and Portégé laptops work with the Toshiba Cloud Client Manager (TCCM) - a cloud service that allows IT administrators to manage end-point devices across a deployment by providing tools and patch management.
Using a standard web browser, IT administrators can oversee and take control of devices online in real-time.
EasyGuard technology
These laptops all feature Toshiba's innovative EasyGuard Technology, adding multi-tiered security and data protection measures that guard components against accidental bumps.
Toshiba says the devices were rigorously tested to the stresses of heat, shock, vibration and Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) at the company's facilities.
Pricing and availability
Toshiba notebooks are available from the vendor's network of resellers as well as strategic partners. Pricing for the C Series starts at $545.99 and $829.99 for the A Series.
