Brightcove partners with FrightPix to launch niche streaming service

Mon, 17th Jun 2024

Video platform vendor Brightcove has announced it is adding FrightPix, a new free ad-supported video-on-demand service, to its roster of media customers. FrightPix will offer a range of horror, thriller, and true crime content. The service will use Brightcove's streaming technology to deliver its content to audiences across the United States.

FrightPix will feature a variety of content, including classic horror films, modern thrillers, true crime stories, and original productions. By leveraging Brightcove's video technology, FrightPix aims to provide a seamless, high-quality viewing experience across devices for its audience.

"As the streaming market evolves, viewers are demonstrating a clear desire for more tailored experiences. At Brightcove, we deeply believe regional, targeted-audience and genre-focused streaming services have enormous opportunities to be successful by delivering unique viewing experiences serving their specific audience's needs," said Marc DeBevoise, CEO of Brightcove. "We are committed to transforming the way consumers experience content, and as the backbone technology for FrightPix, we're supporting them in taking the lead in delivering horror fans an incredible entertainment experience and destination."

The increasing demand for specialised content platforms has highlighted the need for experienced technical partners. FrightPix selected Brightcove's video-cloud streaming platform due to its reliability, innovation, and comprehensive features, which include high video quality, global scalability, customer support, and robust analytics. These analytics are designed to understand viewer preferences and behaviour, providing actionable insights to optimise content and advertising strategies.

"As we launch this month, partnering with Brightcove will allow FrightPix to become the premier streaming destination for horror, thriller, and true crime enthusiasts," said Eric Tomosunas, CEO of FrightPix. "With Brightcove's industry-leading streaming technology, our 'FrightFans' will have the opportunity to enjoy the most spine-tingling movies and series with exceptional reliability and quality. This collaboration is a pivotal step in our platform's ability to deliver top-tier genre entertainment for free, and we are grateful to be part of the Brightcove family."

FrightPix will join several other media companies relying on Brightcove for their streaming capabilities. These include The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, AMC Networks, BBC Studios, and SKY Mexico. The collaboration between FrightPix and Brightcove represents a significant addition to the growing trend of niche-content streaming services that aim to meet specific audience demands.

FrightPix will launch on June 15, 2024, and will be available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku TV, iOS, and Android devices. The platform promises to deliver a diverse library of horror, thriller, and true crime content, making it a notable addition to the array of streaming options available to genre fans.
