Brisbane on show as Xero targets Aussie small business
More than 2000 accountants and bookkeepers from New Zealand, Asia and Australia have descended on Brisbane to attend Xero's annual Xerocon conference.
The event is the largest accounting technology conference in Australia, and attendees are flying in for the first time from New Zealand and Asia.
According to Xero, Brisbane was chosen to pay host as Queensland is a key target market for the company, with thousands of small business advisors using its cloud accounting software.
Queensland has 406,000 small businesses, representing more than 97% of businesses statewide and employing approximately 43% of private sector workers in the state.
In addition, Xero has chosen to launch its popup store experience Cloud St at Xerocon South, with plans to start the Australia-wide store tour from Brisbane in October.
Australia's largest bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, is the sole platinum sponsor of Xerocon South, with additional sponsors including Paypal and Amazon Web Services.
"We're pleased to have selected Brisbane as the location for our annual conference, Xerocon South," says Trent Innes, managing director, Xero Australia.
"Brisbane is a vital hub for small businesses in Australia and the take up of Xero in this market is testament to that," he says.
"We're looking forward to showing our international and interstate attendees what Brisbane has to offer.
Xero was recently recognised as Australia's most loved accounting software by Canstar Blue for the second year in a row.
