FL3XX appoints new chief executive in leadership reshuffle

Fri, 6th Feb 2026

FL3XX has reshaped its top management team, naming co-founder Paolo Sommariva as Chairman and appointing fellow co-founder Stefan Oberender as Chief Executive as the aviation software firm prepares for its next phase of growth.

The Vienna-headquartered company also appointed Manuel Gusterer as Chief Operating Officer, Filip Ranebo as Chief Revenue Officer and Sergiy Tavanets as Chief Technology Officer. The changes place day-to-day leadership with Oberender, while Sommariva takes responsibility at board level.

FL3XX sells an aviation management platform used by operators across private aviation and other flight activities. It says the leadership changes respond to rising operational demands and the need for continuity as aviation businesses increase their reliance on connected digital systems.

Leadership Changes

Sommariva previously served as Chief Executive. In the new structure, he will focus on long-term direction and partnerships. Oberender will be responsible for strategy and overall leadership.

In the newly created COO role, Gusterer will oversee operational execution and global service delivery. As Chief Revenue Officer, Ranebo will lead marketing and sales. Tavanets will oversee technology, platform development and engineering as Chief Technology Officer.

Management platforms have become central to how charter operators, corporate flight departments and specialist operators plan and deliver flights. More operators now run dispatch, crew scheduling, maintenance planning and customer management through integrated systems rather than separate tools.

FL3XX said the updated structure reflects that shift and broader growth in aviation activity, linking the transition to rising demand and complexity across flight operations.

Business Momentum

FL3XX reported processing more than USD $1 billion in operator revenue from June 2024 to November 2025. It also pointed to strong growth in North America, where it said aircraft onboarding has been rapid and adoption has expanded among larger operators moving operations onto digital platforms.

Aviation software providers are competing on workflow breadth and the depth of third-party integrations. FL3XX says its product covers sales, dispatch, crew management, maintenance and finance in a single platform, with more than 130 integrations and four mobile apps.

The company said the platform is used by more than 200 customers across six continents. FL3XX lists private jets, helicopters, medical flights, mission-critical operations and drones among the segments it serves.

Sommariva described the move as part of a maturing business and a way to support the company's next stage.

"Founding and leading FL3XX as chief executive has been a defining chapter for me, and one I've thoroughly enjoyed. As the company has grown, it's become clear that evolving our leadership structure is the right step to support what comes next. Moving into the chairman role allows me to focus on long-term direction and partnerships, while continuing to work closely with the leadership team," Sommariva said.

He also highlighted the long working relationship between the two founders and said the transition adds focus as the company develops.

"Stefan has been instrumental in shaping FL3XX from the very beginning, and we share the same vision for where the company is heading. With exciting developments ahead, this transition gives us the clarity and focus needed to continue building thoughtfully and at scale," he said.

Operational Focus

Oberender described the CEO transition as a continuation of how the company works, emphasising collaboration across staff, customers and partners. He also pointed to platform development and organisational scaling as priorities.

"Stepping into the CEO role is a natural progression for the company and for me personally. FL3XX has always been built around close collaboration, with our team, our customers, and our partners, and that won't change. My focus now is on continuing to develop the platform in line with operator needs, while ensuring the organization scales in a way that remains connected and grounded," Oberender said.

Under the new leadership structure, FL3XX will be led by Oberender as Chief Executive, supported by Gusterer as Chief Operating Officer, Ranebo as Chief Revenue Officer and Tavanets as Chief Technology Officer.
