FYI, this story is more than a year old

GoDaddy.com website has gone down, potentially causing millions of websites hosted by the registrar to follow suit as a result.

The world's largest domain registrar is currently unreachable with any domain registered with GoDaddy which uses its name servers and DNS records also suffering from the outage.

Claims by an "Anonymous" hacker group on Twitter says it is behind the outage, but has yet to be confirmed.

GoDaddy, hosting over 5m websites mostly for small businesses says they are still investigating the cause of the problem and was working to restore service as soon as possible.

The outage began shortly after 5am New Zealand time this morning.
