Paymentology first to connect Mastercard Cloud Edge across clouds

Wed, 14th Aug 2024

Paymentology has announced a new milestone, connecting to Mastercard via Mastercard's Cloud Edge and becoming the first customer to connect through multiple cloud providers.

This development enhances Paymentology's cloud-first strategy, aimed at delivering advanced payment solutions globally.

Mastercard's Cloud Edge is designed to enable efficient and secure connections from any chosen cloud provider, supporting hybrid connectivity patterns. This system assists fintech companies, issuer banks, and other partners in launching new payment services seamlessly.

Merusha Naidu, Global Head of Partnerships at Paymentology, spoke about the significance of this development. She stated, "Paymentology is leading the way in payments innovation, with our next-generation platform and multi-cloud network, making it easy to launch any type of card programme. This advancement with our long-standing partner, Mastercard, reinforces our commitment to a cloud-first approach and our positioning as one of the first issuer-processors capable of operating entirely in the cloud. All our clients and partners will benefit from our universal cloud connectivity, providing greater flexibility for our products and services."

The announcement comes at a critical time when businesses in the fintech, banking, and telecommunications sectors are expanding their operations across borders. These organisations often face challenges related to specialised hardware, physical connections, and regional compliance requirements, which can result in delays and hamper customer adoption.

Christian Rau, SVP, Crypto and Fintech Enablement, Mastercard Europe, expressed his view on the collaboration. He said, "As more organisations adopt digital payment services, Mastercard and its partners continue to prioritise accessible, secure, and innovative solutions. We're excited to be building upon our existing relationship with Paymentology, as they leverage the benefits of Mastercard's Cloud Edge to further enhance and streamline their cloud-first, payments-issuing platform."

The integration of Mastercard's Cloud Edge supports the expansion of Paymentology's processing services, offering clients improved reliability and scalability for card programme deployments. This partnership simplifies transactions and ensures robust data security and performance. Consequently, service deployment is accelerated, delays in customer adoption are minimised, and a reliable, scalable, and secure platform is established.

Paymentology's connection to Mastercard's Cloud Edge allows the company to utilise the system's full flexibility. This capability is expected to better serve Paymentology's diverse clientele, which includes fintech businesses, banks, telecommunications companies, and other sectors. Clients will gain access to Mastercard products and services through a single connection, streamlining the entire process.

This development is seen as a critical evolution in cloud infrastructure for payments. With advancements in edge computing and the upcoming shifts to 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), rapid data and transaction processing capabilities are becoming increasingly important for operational efficiency and enhanced customer experiences.
