Taiwan's Meet Taipei Startup Festival kicked off today, with 385 startups exhibiting, 100 of them from countries other than Taiwan.
Now in its fourth year, the event saw the participation of startups from Russia, France, Mexico, Ireland, Jamaica, UK, USA, Belgium, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Meet Taipei is held at the Taipei Expo Dome from November 16 to 18, organised by Business Next and Meet.
The main themes at this year's event are the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Mobile Gaming.
Business Next community manager Kyle Chen says that most Taiwanese startups are seeing an opportunity in IoT to leverage Taiwan's historical strength in manufacturing.
However, the startups also need strong software support for their IoT products, so the event has a focus on bringing together software and hardware, particularly around developing an AI component.
Business Next aims to discover, grow, and give exposure to Taiwan's startups.
