Vodafone 'excited' to bring new services to Kiwi homes and businesses
"Gigabit networks and services are a key part of digitally enabling New Zealand.
That's according to Matt Williams, consumer director of Vodafone NZ, off the back of the company's latest broadband announcement.
Vodafone has just announced its super-fast one gigabit per second (1Gbps) fibre broadband services will soon be available to its customers that are within reach of UFB.
On offer will be 1Gbps residential fibre broadband services from $139.99 per month and pricing information for the remaining areas will be released further down the track.
"We are seeing an amazing shift in our customer usage - peak data traffic over our network has nearly doubled in the last year, driven by video streaming," says Williams
"It is creating a strong need for the best broadband access technology, and this is why we are excited to be delivering these new Gigabit services to kiwi homes and businesses," he says.
In recent months Vodafone has also made a lot of progress by upgrading its ultra-fast cable network 'FibreX' - which serves customers in Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch.
Upon completion, Vodafone's FibreX footprint will cover Wellington's central CBD and surrounding suburbs, and all of Kapiti. For Christchurch, the network will cover the central CBD and surrounding suburbs
"The $22million investment in our FibreX network has boosted capacity and paved the way for Gigabit services," adds Williams.
"We look forward to offering customers in Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch a compelling reason to upgrade to FibreX in the very near future".
