Xero updates its Android app
Kiwi accounting software firm Xero has released a new version of its Xero Touch app for Android users.
Xero says with the release of Google's material design standards, the company's designers took the opportunity to revisit the entire Android approach.
Downloads of the Xero Touch app now number more than 470,000, an increase of 82% year-over-year when compared to the same period in 2014.
"Xero Touch for Android now offers a simpler, more consistent experience, and it's faster than ever to input data," the company explains in a statement.
"A superior user experience is at the heart of everything we do at Xero," Andy Lark, Xero chief marketing officer, says.
"Merging input from our customers with beautiful, thoughtful design, drives both our product innovation and our passion for supporting small businesses and our accounting partners who can start their day using Xero mobile solutions.
"Uniform layouts, typography and spacing throughout the app – and with other apps that take advantage of Google's new standards – provide an even more beautiful experience for Xero customers."
Xero says the app's user-centric design aims to give small business owners more control.
Angus Norton, Xero chief product officer, adds, "We've included extensive feedback from our Xero Android users to ensure that it focuses on the tasks and details that are important to them.
Xero is continually introducing new features to its core online accounting solution and has now released over 1000 product updates in 18 months.
"With over 600 of these updates occurring in 2015 alone, Xero's speed of innovation continues to accelerate at a breakneck pace," the company says. "Every one of these updates was implemented to assist advisors in serving their clients and to give small businesses better control of their finances.
"Xero Touch for Android is the ideal mobile companion, designed to provide easy access to important information based on how our customers work on the go - whether they are on the couch, meeting with a customer or client or even waiting for a plane at the airport," explains Luke Gumbley, Xero mobile product manager.
