Xero's eSign functionality goes live

Wed, 2nd Nov 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Earlier this year Xero announced that it was bringing direct electronic GST returns to its software that could be sent straight to the IRD.

This functionality means that customers can select their provisional tax method, click 'File now', then enter their myIR login details. The company will then automatically fill out IRD numbers and other information, saving customers time and costs.

This task is live for all accountants and bookkeepers, allowing them and small businesses to save hours of administration work.

But that's not the latest news Xero has for customers.

As of right now, the e-sign functionality is available for accountants and bookkeepers with Xero Tax, allowing clients to securely sign their tax return declarations and GST - without the fuss of paperwork.

Xero has been working closely with Inland Revenue to make a number of compliance and taxation processes easier for accountants and small businesses.

Anna Curzon, managing director of Xero NZ, says that in October alone, they've seen thousands of successful GST returns submitted from Xero.

"Xero Tax with e-sign is helping small businesses save even more time and improve their business' efficiency," explains Curzon.

With Xero Tax with e-sign by Adobe, small business owners can sign declarations online without the hassle of printing, signing, scanning, and sending.

"Tax in New Zealand is undergoing a huge change, and I'm proud and excited to see Xero championing many new ways of making the filing of tax returns simpler and easier for small businesses."
